Venere rice with prawns and courgettes
Everyone has eaten a fine dish of potato dumplings at least once in their life. Potato dumplings, or gnocchi, are a typical Italian dish of ancient origin going back to the 16th century when potatoes began to be imported from the Americas. Over the years, gnocchi took on different flavours, forms and dimensions but after 1880 almost all varieties disappeared except those of potatoes, which were prepared in all regions of Italy. In Rome, they were traditionally served on Thursdays. There was a popular saying that went: “Thursday gnocchi, Friday fish, Saturday tripe”. The original recipe for gnocchi, like grandma’s, is very simple: potatoes, flour, eggs and salt. We at Gourmio follow the tradition and propose authentic potato gnocchi. Whether dressed with meat sauce, pesto or creamy sauces, their unmistakeable flavour will take you a step back in time. Gourmio offers you gnocchi in the typical colours of autumn, and the creamy sauce of pumpkin and cheeses is a perfect combination for them. Pair them with a Franciacorta spumante wine: sparkling and acidic, it will be a good contrast with the sweet pumpkin.
