History
The Strozzapreti, a name impossible to translate in english, but it means “strangle - priests”.It is a traditional pasta typical in center and south of Italy. You can find it cooked in different ways and seasoned with many sauces. One things is sure: the name “strangle - priests”. At first, the shape of this pasta was a ball, similar to an egg but it created sometimes problem to be eating as somebody risked to be strangled! A legend tells that a priest went to tavern, he asked for that food but he ate too fast that Strozzapreti strangled him. As time went by, the pasta changed shape so to become big and long and no more a ball, but the name was still the same. In this recipe, Strozzapreti are seasoned with another italian traditional sauce, made by sea food. A traditional recipe by the village along the Apulian shore.
