Octopus Elba style
The Elba isle offers a great choice of traditional foods and products. One of these is the wine. When you arrive in Elba by ferryboat, you can see many vineyards surrounding the hills. Here, the traditional food includes vegetables, especially fava bean, fruits and pumpkins. Another big food resource is the fish, of course. Along the shoreline you can discover some village of fishermen. Times ago, a key player of the fish culinary tradition was the tuna-fish picked by tuna-fish net. Now the tuna-fish nets are forbidden to be used, but the tradition about fish keeps a rich proposal. The Octopus cooked as Elba style is a good example. It is a simple, but flavoured recipe which offers you the real taste of the Tirreno see. The tradition says that the octopus must be hitted by a wood so to obtain a more tender meat. The true is that the octopus is a symbol of sea monster and the fishermen hit it by a wood, because this way represents the eternal fight between nature and human race.
